Innovator: Many
advocate a "big funnel" (also for lessons
learned or best practices), that channels the many ideas
flowing out of an organization, into a process that transforms the
ideas into marketable innovations. While appearing
logical, this may dampen the very creative invention that would produce
an
innovation.

Systems engineering provides the ability to see and integrate from the basic need to complex end-products. DFSS enables the selection of the best solutions (quality, cost, robustness), TRIZ enables invention (as do other basic methods), and your PDP must deliver Innovation without killing invention.
